Brenham High School Administration

Joe Chandler, Principal

Mr. Chandler began his career in education in Brownsville, Texas. Several years later, he moved to Houston, where he served as a special education teacher, department chair, and assistant principal in Alief ISD. In 2008, he became associate principal at Willowridge High School in Fort Bend ISD, where he later served as principal from 2010 to 2016. Mr. Chandler is excited to be joining the Brenham Cub family as the new principal of Brenham High School. Mr. Chandler earned his Bachelor's degree from St. Meinrad College in Indiana and his Master's degree from the University of Houston.

Kirk Still, Associate Principal (12th grade)

Mr. Still has served in administration at Brenham High School since 2008. He came to Brenham ISD from Cypress-Fairbanks ISD, where he taught and later worked as a behavior specialist and assistant principal. Mr. Still holds a Bachelor of Business degree from Stephen F. Austin State University, as well as a Master of Education and Mid-Management Certification from Prairie View A&M University.

Dr. Herbert J. Schoener III, Assistant Principal (10th grade)

Dr. Schoener (pronounced Shay-ner) began his career in the U.S. Department of Defense Dependent Schools in Germany. Before coming to Brenham High School, he taught at A&M Consolidated High School in College Station I.S.D. for eight years. He completed his Bachelor’s Degree at The University of Texas at Austin with a double major in History and German. He received his Master’s Degree from Texas State University in Educational Administration and his Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction from Texas A&M University.

Don Silvey, Assistant Principal (9th grade)

Mr. Silvey has served in Brenham ISD since 2002, working as an assistant principal and principal at Krause Elementary for two years, dean of students at Pride Academy for three years, and assistant principal at Brenham High School for eight years. Before coming to Brenham, he taught in Conroe ISD and Klein ISD. Mr. Silvey holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Eastern Michigan University and a Master of Education and Mid-Management Certification from Sam Houston State University.

LaKesha Walker, Assistant Principal (11th grade)

Ms. Walker is a 2000 graduate of Brenham High School. She received an Associate’s Degree in General Liberal Arts from Blinn College, a Bachelor’s Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from Prairie View A&M University, and a Master’s Degree from Prairie View A&M University in Educational Administration. This year marks her eleventh year in education. She taught English Language Arts and Reading (ELAR) and coached for eight years at Brenham Junior High. She was an assistant high school basketball coach at Brenham High School for two years. She taught one year at Cy-Fair ISD and was an administrator at Alton Elementary this past year, where she served as School Improvement Officer. She has also served as summer school principal for the past five years in Brenham ISD.
