Face Coverings Email to Parents

We eagerly await the arrival of students back to Early Childhood Learning Center. As we move closer to the start of school, we want to take the time to reach out and communicate with our Cub Family about the importance of wearing face coverings.

Staff members have been planning and preparing to ensure that we provide the safest learning environment possible for all students. There has been a lot of discussion about Personal Protective Equipment, specifically the wearing of face masks or facial coverings. After consulting with the Washington County Health Authority and Medical Director for Brenham ISD, we strongly encourage our elementary students to wear a face covering at any time of transition. For example, coming from the car into the building, riding on the school bus, walking down the hall to get to class, going to the restroom, etc. Once in the learning space (classroom, gym, etc.) and social distancing can be monitored, the facial covering may be removed if it is appropriate for the lesson being taught. If it is more appropriate to leave the facial covering on, they may be left on. We recognize and understand that there are many exceptions to this statement. We know that for some students facial coverings are not developmentally appropriate. We also recognize that for our younger students to learn to read and learn their vowel sounds, they need to have the ability to see the teacher’s mouth move. Additionally, we believe in order for our students to learn about emotions and to connect those emotions with facial expressions, they must be able to see each other's faces. This is the delicate balance we must navigate. Therefore, when it is appropriate, facial coverings should be left on; when it is not appropriate in order to be able to teach the lesson, students will be allowed to take them off.

While we will do everything possible to practice social distancing, we feel that this is an additional safety measure for our students and staff. Thank you for your continued support. We understand our tremendous responsibility and reassure you that we will continue to keep the health and well-being of our students and staff a priority. Working together, we can make 2020-2021 a successful school year.

Early Childhood Learning Center

Dear Brenham ISD Parents and Guardians,

In anticipation of inclement weather, all Brenham ISD classes will transition to remote learning for all students for Tuesday, February 16, 2021. Parents should contact their child’s campus if they are in need of Chromebooks and/or Hotspots. Campuses are in the process of identifying students in need of devices for remote learning in grades 2 through 12. Devices and/or Hotspots will be available on a first come, first served basis. Students in prekindergarten through 1st will receive an additional message from their campus. To ensure Hotspots are available to all Brenham ISD students and staff that need them, we ask that parents only request 1 Hotspot per family.

To maintain our students and staff safety, all Brenham ISD after-school activities will be canceled Monday, February 15 and Tuesday, February 16. Additionally, this week's mass COVID-19 testing events have also been canceled.

For technical difficulties during online instruction, please contact Brenham ISD Technology Support at 979-277-3760 or email helpdesk@brenhamk-12.net.

Brenham ISD will continue to monitor the weather and provide updates as they become available.

For further updates, we ask that you continue to monitor our Brenham ISD website and follow Brenham ISD on our social media platforms.
