Mrs. Lopez is a graduate of Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics with a focus on Secondary Education.  Upon completion, she earned her master's degree from Lamar University in Educational Administration.  She began her career at Klein High School, then relocated to Midlothian and was a math teacher and head cheer coach at Midlothian Heritage High School.  From there, her family moved to Lake Jackson where she was a math teacher, interventionist, then Campus Content Specialist.  Three short years later, football moved her family to Brenham.  This is where she was blessed to begin her administration career at Brenham Junior High.  

Mrs. Lopez is married to Derek Lopez, Assistant Athletic Director and Offensive Coordinator.  They have two daughters, Berklie (11) and Layne (2).  She is  very proud to call Brenham home.  GO CUBS!!

Aaron Smithers

Assistant Principal

An Illinois native, Aaron Smithers has spent the last thirteen years in public education. He received his bachelors degrees in Theater and Secondary Education from Indiana University and his Masters in Educational Leadership from Texas State University. Prior to becoming an educator, Mr. Smithers was a professional actor in Chicago.

During his longest tenure as a 7th and 8th grade Social Studies teacher, he was nominated by the faculty of Pflugerville Middle School for Teacher of the Year in 2017. His students remember his "as a truly caring and funny teacher who brought social studies to life in his classroom." Mr. Smithers was the Instructional Coach for classroom management and discipline at Cedar Creek Middle School in Bastrop ISD during the 2020 and 2021 school years, before accepting the AP position at Brenham High School.

In his spare time, when he gets spare time, he enjoys hiking, playing with his cats, and spending time with loved ones. His loyalties lie with the 11 time World Series Champion St. Louis Cardinals and Newcastle United FC, and is a servant to the four kings of Rock N Roll: John, Paul George and Ringo. He has really enjoyed being a part of the Cub family and has never felt more at home than here at Brenham High School.

Jessica Toliver
Assistant Principal

Jessica Toliver is in her 14th year of education.  She graduated from Holliday High School where she was an All State softball player, president of Texas Association of Future Educators, editor of the Eagle Express, and a top 10% Honor Graduate.

Mrs. Toliver attended Texas Tech University where she was a member of the Student Government Association.  She graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Exercise and Sport Sciences with a minor in Education.  She then obtained her Masters Degree in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from the University of Texas at Arlington.  Before moving into administration, Mrs. Toliver coached and taught English and Physical Education.

Mrs. Toliver's husband Jeffery is the Head Boys' Track Coach and Special Teams Coordinator at Brenham High School.  They have two children, Preston and Palmer who love cheering on the Cubs and Cubettes!
