From the Principal....

Allan G. Colvin is a 1990 graduate of Brenham High School. After high school, Mr. Colvin worked several jobs as a steelworker, mechanical engineer, and caretaker for individuals with disabilities. Working with those individuals, Colvin realized his passion for working with individuals who need assistance to live a wholesome life. Soon after, Colvin pursued his degree in Special Education in 2003 and worked ten years at Brenham High School. He received his master's degree in 2007 in Educational Mid-Management Administration and currently serves as the Pride Academy principal.  Colvin believes all students are like clay. They need molding, love, care, time, and shape into something beautiful, functional, and highly productive.

Colvin's passion for excellence started in college, where he was named Texas A&M Blue Teacher recruit in 2003-2004. He ensures that his work speaks for him as he was named Pride Academy 2014-2015 Teacher of the Year. He has a passion for inspiring his students to continue to be the best they can be, not in talk but in actions. Colvin completed the Washington County Leadership Training in 2020 and was recognized by the Washington County Chamber of Commerce. In 2021 Colvin ran for Brenham City Council, and his students wanted to know more about the position and got involved with the local voting process and how to run a campaign. Colvin uses all his life experiences to mold and grows his student’s knowledge base. Colvin's mission is to transform the Alternative school setting into a setting conducive for learning. Under Colvin's leadership, the School Culture has transformed into a professional learning community. A place where students, parents, and staff are fired up for success. Colvin uses restorative discipline practices that include the student in the discipline to help them identify and rectify their mistakes. During Mr. Colvin's free time, he enjoys being with his family and grandkids. He enjoys long rides viewing the countryside, and cooking BBQ. In addition, he enjoys being around his Fraternity Brothers of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc. Pi Alpha Lambda Chapter. They engage in many community projects on the weekends and serve the less fortunate citizens in the Brazos Valley.
