Good Day Alton Elementary Parents,

I am going to tell you something that you know already.  Your child is a SUPERHERO!

Our children have special abilities that they have yet to tap into. They each have unique gifts that are still developing.  Gifts that can help make the world a better place. Our mission is to unleash the superhero in each one of our students.

So we, as parents and teachers, need to unite and work together to make sure that our children can be guided to become productive, passionate, remarkable, loving superheroes that will help those around them.

As always I would ask that you help us develop these awesome superhero children by

being involved with school activities.  Let your child see how you value a good education.

Talk positively about school.  Yes, you and I have had some bad experiences when we went to school, but our children do not have to share that same experience.  Focus on the positive.

Try to provide a structured schedule when your child comes home from school for homework and reading.  Set a time aside when your child will work on their homework or read a good book.

Speaking of reading, try to make sure that you read to or with your child each evening.  Our children who are capable of reading on their own should try to read for at least 20 minutes or more each night.

Of course, there are so many other ideas that we could talk about to help our children be the best that they can be.  The biggest thing that we can do is to make sure that we work together.

I thank you for allowing us the opportunity to work with your child this school year.  I am looking forward to seeing our familiar faces and meeting our new students who will be joining our superhero team.  Please know that each staff member here loves your child, and will work hard to help them be as successful as they can.  Together, we can all be superheroes!
